I love shooting any wedding at the RNLI College Poole – it’s a great venue with stunning architecture and it’s set right on the water’s edge. In fact, it would be difficult to get much closer to the water without actually getting your feet wet! As a Dorset wedding photographer I get to work at some great and really unique wedding venues, and the RNLI’s certainly unique! In fact, Claire and Andy chose the RNLI College because it is SO unusual – they wanted somewhere stylish and different for their wedding this year.
The journey to the RNLI was somewhat fraught – even though it’s only around a 10 mile journey, on this particular day everything seemed set against me. Every route I took was jammed with traffic (even the back-roads which I know so well). Fortunately, I always allow plenty of time when travelling to a wedding, so there were no real issues!
Claire and Tom’s ceremony was held in the Harbour View Suite, which has sweeping views across Holes Bay. Tom looked a little nervous as he waited for Claire to arrive, but there were no worries about getting caught in traffic – she’d stayed at the RNLI overnight, so it was only a short walk down the corridor from her room! Gary from the Poole Registrars was officiating and he quickly put everyone at ease for the ceremony. Afterwards the couple had a drinks reception and then I took the immediate Bridal party out onto the balcony for the formal photos, even if it was a tad breezy!
It was a great day and if you’re considering having your wedding at the RNLI College Poole for a wedding, I’d suggest that you pop along to their wedding open day in January. It’s organised by Bellissimo Weddings and I’ll be there along with a selection of hand-picked wedding suppliers. It’s the perfect opportunity to have a look around the venue and also book those all-important details for your special day. I look forward to seeing you there and discussing your Dorset wedding! 🙂
