Hardly seems possible that it’s exactly a year since Lauren and Sam’s Swanage wedding. Time really does fly when you’re photographing weddings, as one season morphs into the next!
We’d done an engagement shoot a few months earlier on Studland, so I’d already got to know them quite well. The ceremony was held at the St Mary’s Parish Church in the middle of Swanage. Then it was drive back across Studland (and a trip on the chain-link ferry), through the millionaire’s hot-spot of Sandbanks, to the delightful Italian Villa at Compton Acres in Canford Cliffs for the reception and the partying.
The day started in Swanage with the bridal prep. Luckily Lauren owned her own hair salon so there was definitely no rush to proceedings! Everything was organised perfectly. Plenty of bubbles and canapés to keep the girls happy! The final preparations were at Mum and Dad’s place in town.
The sun shone brightly as family and friends arrived at the Church. As with any wedding in the centre of town, there was loads of interest from passers-by, eager to catch a glimpse of the Bride when she arrived. Lauren looked stunning as she stepped out of the Bentley, her smile radiant and natural. Sam was slightly nervous (as most guys are), whilst he waited for his Bride to arrive. But those nerves melted as she walked down the aisle with her Father.
After the ceremony the wedding party made their way back to “the mainland”. Have to admit that the convoy made quite a stir as we approached the Sandbanks Ferry. I was behind the three Bentleys, two black, one red. The holidaymakers on the beach and those in the queue were eager to get photos of the couple in the car, so they certainly had their “5 minutes of fame”! I think that the drivers of the cars were enjoying the attention more than the Bride and Groom!
At the Italian Villa the gardens looked stunning in the Spring sunshine. The water in the pond reflecting the blue sky and fluffy white clouds. The goldfish darting underneath the lily-pads as the water splashed down from the fountain.
It was a fabulous day and a real pleasure to be a part of. Happy anniversary!
While you’re here …. why not kick off your shoes, turn up the volume and take a peek at the slideshow …. 🙂
