Sir Norman Parkinson honoured by Google at 100
100 years ago today, the celebrated fashion and portrait photographer, Sir Norman Parkinson, was born. He died in 1990 but his work is still highly regarded and indeed, there’s an exhibition of his work at the National Theatre in London and another in Bath.
Norman Parkinson was once described by Jerry Hall as “an old-style gentleman photographer”. In the words of Jonathan Jones in The Guardian “Parkinson’s brilliance has everything to do with time, and defying it – for he managed to be something that should be logically impossible, a “timeless” fashion photographer whose art danced through the decades and always remained in style”.
