Sara and Ollie | Riviera Hotel Bournemouth wedding
When Sara and Ollie asked me to photograph their wedding at the Riviera Hotel in Bournemouth, they wanted to make the most of its location. Just up the hill from Alum Chine, they were keen to have some photographs taken on the beach on their special day. Weather permitting of course! We met up a few weeks beforehand to go through the details and talk about shooting options (and the timings) for the day.
Well, on the day itself we needn’t have worried! True, it was a bit drizzly just before the ceremony, but we were keeping our fingers crossed that it would brighten up later. The Bridesmaids arrived in a lovely VW split-screen from Dorset Dub Hire. Sara arrived in a gorgeous 1950s Chevrolet Bel Air
After the ceremony we walked along to the bridge over Alum Chine (no rain either!), which is where the couple wanted their group photos taken. Then, whilst the immediate family, Bridesmaids and Ushers made their way back to the hotel we hopped into the Chevvy. It was quite an experience as the throaty V8 fired up and burbled as we made our way to the beach. I have to admit that being the centre of attention as we drove along was quite an experience! You could almost imagine yourself riding along the streets of Havana, where these gorgeous old cars still earn their living as taxis. After a few minutes we were parked up at Branksome Dene for the beach shots Sara and Ollie wanted. We were treated to an amazing cloud bank over the Purbecks, providing the perfect back-drop for their beach session before we made our way back to the hotel for the reception.
Here’s a few highlights from their day …..
