Prince Harry uses Fuji X100

With such a terrible week of news from Australia and Pakistan, it’s great to see the newspapers and TV today covering some good news for a change. There’s some great images and an uplifting story about HRH Prince Henry of Wales in Africa at a school run by his charity Sentebale. Not only is he the subject of the press photographers, Prince Harry uses a Fuji X100 to create some cracking images of his own. Prince Harry proves that he’s definitely got an eye for a shot and the black and white portrait below would grace the folio of many a professional photographer. Speaking about his passion for photography, Prince Harry said: ‘I have always enjoyed photography and the challenges that come with trying to capture the perfect shot, although privately I don’t take many photos. The best photos I have are in my head – I have some very special memories, mostly from Africa.’ His trip last week to Lesotho wasn’t just a chance for him to take photos, it was part of his efforts to raise awareness of the plight of orphaned children in a country which has the world’s second highest HIV rate and where one in three children are orphans.

As a keen user of the Fuji X100 for my personal (and occasionally wedding) work, it’s great to see this little camera being used by someone who, it must be said, has a higher public profile than most! 🙂
