The New Forest wedding of Niki and Duncan was a year ago, but how time flies! We had a beautiful day and it started when Anna (my second shooter for the day) and I arrived at Niki’s parents’ home in Lymington. Niki’s family are lovely, and I’d photographed her Sister’s wedding the year before, so I knew the family quite well. Anna and I split up and covered different elements of the Bridal prep and before we know it we were on our way to Brockenhurst in the New Forest, to the lovely Church where the family have been going for years.
The Church in Brockenhurst is really sweet and looks as though someone’s plucked it from a chocolate box lid and dropped it into a wooded glade! With family and friends arriving from all over the country (and indeed abroad) the small gravel car-park filled up and cars were squeezing themselves along the verge of the country lane. Niki and her bridesmaids looked stunning, and the service was a really happy event, with a packed Church. Afterwards it was a short drive up the road to the reception, held at the delightful Setley Ridge Vineyard where there was a marquee ready for us (together with some of their delicious wine!). If you’re looking for a New Forest wedding venue, I can highly recommend the vineyard!
After the wedding breakfast the speeches provided the usual embarrassing moments for both the Bride and Groom, and tears of laughter were in abundance! As the guests relaxed we went outside with Niki and Duncan to take some relaxed portraits amongst the vines, which because of the poor Summer, weren’t quite as developed as they should have been. A terrific party then ensued, with a live band getting everyone up onto the dance floor and it was with great reluctance that Anna and I said farewell to Niki and Duncan and made our way home – Anna back up to London and me back to Bournemouth.
So, it gives me great pleasure to wish Niki and Duncan a happy anniversary – thanks for letting us be part of your special day … it was brilliant! 🙂
