The Lulworth Church wedding of Candice and Simon is my choice for “Image of the week“. The Anglican church of St. Andrew stands in the grounds of Lulworth Park close to the ruins of Lulworth Castle. The Church was built in the 15th Century. Candice and Simon chose this lovely old Church for their wedding and afterwards we were whisked away in a helicopter for a flight across the Purbecks to Durdle Door. Then it was back into the air for the short flight onto their wedding reception just outside Wool.
Why have I chosen this image? Although weddings are “about” the Bride and Groom, the family and friends are also important for a photographer. Sometimes people are reticent about having their photograph taken and I can understand that. I’m one of those people! So I can empathise completely.
The Bride and Groom, by inviting you to their wedding, are saying that you’re very important to them – it’s a great privilege. They want to see you in their photographs!
Anyway, back to the image! This was taken during one of the hymns and I love the way that the two boys are interacting with the “unseen” grown-ups. Dressed up in the mini morning suits. The lady in the background looking at them. Little stories happening all of the time – that’s what weddings are all “about”.
