Flower Girls – I love this picture

I’m turning the clock back a couple of years today. Time travel – but I’m no Doctor Who! Back to Nikki and Duncan’s wedding in the New Forest.

I’d photographed Nikki’s Sister’s wedding the previous year at the same Church. St Nicholas’ is the oldest Church in the New Forest. Recorded in the Domesday Book it stands on top of a hill overlooking the village of  Brockenhurst. Quaint. Picturesque. A wedding photographer’s dream!

Children at weddings can be really entertaining. They can also be challenging. Just ask any parent! Sometimes I’ll find they’re lively and smiling all the time. Sometimes they’re miserable and glum. You can never tell.

On this day I was lucky. The flower girls were bright and bubbly. They were enjoying themselves. Not nervous about what they had to do.

As they waited in the porch of the Church with their Mums they were giggling. Goodness knows what they were laughing about, but they were enjoying themselves. A different story for the third girl though. Looking thoroughly unimpressed with things! Such a contrast.

OK, a “purist” probably wouldn’t include this shot because they’re looking directly into the camera. But I don’t care. I love the photograph because to me it captures the spirit and fun of the two girls.

I hope you love it too.
