Durlston Castle Swanage wedding of Denise and Alex
It seems only appropriate that, in the week I did an engagement shoot in Swanage, this week’s selection for “Image of the week” features the Durlston Castle Swanage wedding of Denise and Alex …
I won’t give too much away about the day on this post, because Denise and Alex’s lovely wedding at Durslton Castle in Swanage will be featured on the Blog shortly. However, let’s just say that the weather decided not to play ball, and just as we stepped outside for the formal photographs …. the mist descended in and cloaked everything with a cool, damp blanket! Not that the weather impacted everyone’s enjoyment of the day – in fact, it probably added to it, especially with the transport. Why? Because Denise and Alex had hired a Routemaster bus to take everyone to the wedding, and then back to the reception at the Hotel du Vin in Poole (where I’m the recommended wedding photographer). Riding back through the Purbecks, with everyone on board really added to the fun of the day, and so much nicer than people making their way in their own cars!
Anyway, enough of getting side-tracked – back to this week’s image ….

The Castle has a lovely view out across the Jurassic Coast (well, on a clear day anyway!) and the ceremony room’s flooded with natural light. Denise made her way up the spiral staircase into the room to be met by her Father, who escorted her down the aisle. As he handed his daughter’s hand to Alex and stepped back her side he looked at her, and their eyes met. It’s one of those tender moments in a wedding that I love. Capturing the unspoken love between Father and Daughter ….
