Dorset Wedding Festival 2013
This weekend saw the inaugural Dorset Wedding Festival, organised by the lovely ladies Sam and Eleanor from Something Borrowed Magazine. It was held at Holton Lee, a lovely venue on the edge of the Purbecks, about half-way between Poole and Wareham. Bearing in mind that Spring’s not really arrived yet, I have to admit I was more than a little concerned about the weather, as this was a wedding show with a difference … held outdoors in marquees. Luckily, the day of the Festival dawned bright and sunny, and although it clouded over and the wind picked up, we were treated to a fine day.
I always tend to arrive early for shows and was treated to a bacon butty by Polly from Blue Bay Events, which, together with the coffee set the tone nicely for the day! Over the next couple of hours the rest of the exhibitors arrived on site and set up their displays, which gave me a chance to catch up with some old friends and have a natter … that’s one of the benefits of being so well known in the wedding industry – there’s always someone you can have a chat with (well, running your own business can get lonely at times!).
The Brides started arriving before the event was open, and it was almost as though someone had opened the floodgates … they poured in! My stand was in the Bride’s Marquee, just across from Melanie and Nicolle from Beach Weddings Bournemouth, so it was almost home-from-home! I have to say that the attendance was really high all day – I didn’t really have the opportunity to nip around the show and take photographs because there were so many couples to talk to …. so here are just a few behind the scenes shots from the show (you can see a few more on my ianH photography Facebook page)!
I’m really looking forward to next year’s show, but I think we’ll allow Sam and Eleanor a few days off to recover from this show first! Thanks so much ladies for all of your hard work – it was much appreciated.
