Customised Fuji X camera
18 months ago when I bought my little Fuji X100 it was a bit special. Why? Because Fuji produced a limited number in Black, as opposed to the normal Silver. Going back in time (which I can!), camera manufacturers offered mostly Silver/Chrome, and then started to offer Black as an option. For me, Black’s always been my favourite, as it’s less obtrusive. Black also became associated with “professional” cameras, so anyone with a Black Nikon or Canon was obviously a serious photographer! It doesn’t matter that the camera’s exactly the same inside – it’s all down to perception. Nowadays, Black’s the “norm” as plastic bodied cameras dominate the market.
It’s refreshing however, to see that Fuji’s now bucking the trend, and offering owners the chance to customise their cameras. The regular black leatherette covering can be replaced with a variety of different covers. I really like the look of the Burnt Orange, but I don’t think it would help me blend into the background whilst I’m shooting weddings!
You can check out the options here at the Fuji site – any of the range of Fuji cameras can have their skins replaced. It’s all down to personal taste, but if you want to make your camera stand out from the crowd, what better way is there?
