Image of the week 8 features the Westbourne church ceremony of Rowena and Nathan ….
Rowena and Nathan at the altar
Rowena and Nathan were married at St. Ambrose Church in Westbourne, a late Victorian Gothic style building. Grand and imposing on the inside, it’s got a beautifully-lit wide aisle and a lovely ambience. As usual with my couples, I joined them for their rehearsal as it’s a great way to meet the key family members and the wedding party – not forgetting of course, the vicar! I have to say that he was very relaxed about the whole affair, and when we had a chat about the photography he suggested I could even shoot from the pulpit during the ceremony if I wanted …. not that’s a first! 🙂
On the day itself the sun was streaming through the windows, and when the couple moved forward for the blessing, Rowena’s dress was highlighted by one of these shafts of light, almost as though a spotlight was being shone down. I think it’s a lovely image, and it remains one of my favourites. Rarely do I find a Church where the light’s so conducive to photography.

Bournemouth and Poole wedding photography
I’ve photographed many of the weddings venues in Bournemouth and Poole so please get in touch if you’re getting married in the area – it would be great to have a chat and see whether I can help record your special day.
