As we head further into Autumn, and closer to Winter, it’s nice to be able to look back over the weddings and celebrations that I’ve covered. That’s the idea behind my “Image of the week” series – to showcase one image each week and tell a little bit of the story surrounding it. This week it’s an image from Stevie and Byron’s wedding that’s the subject for “Bournemouth wedding photographer – image of the week 20“.
Stevie and Byron contacted me early last year, asking if I was available to shoot their wedding at Bournemouth Registry Office. Their wedding was held in the middle of April – now, as we know, Springtime in the UK can be slightly temperamental (to put it mildly). This particular day lived up to our expectations!
I started coverage at the family home on Blandford, shooting the Bridal prep with Stevie and her Bridemaids. It was the usual scene … girls, champagne and lots of laughter! The forecast was mixed, and just as we were about to leave the house the heavens opened! I felt really sorry for Jason from Dorset Dub Hire, as he’d brought along one of their stunning vehicles – well, it WAS clean before the day started! 🙂
At the Registry Office, family and friends were gathering, although we seemed to be missing a Registrar! Anyway, that was sorted out, and it was time for the ceremony to get under way. Now, aside from getting shots of the couple during the ceremony I always keep an eye on the family members and the Bridesmaids! There’s usually at least one individual who shows their emotions, and this time it was …. Stevie’s Mum. As the couple were signing the Register I saw Mum wiping away some tears – well, when you’re letting go of your little girl it’s only natural for a Mum to feel sad. That’s the beauty of weddings – they’re a mixture of emotions … happiness, excitement and sadness, all bundled up into one lovely day. Apart from Mum’s reaction, I like the way that the other family members seem to be lost in their own thoughts ….
