Beach Weddings Bournemouth – an intimate wedding ceremony

Beach Weddings Bournemouth – an intimate wedding ceremony

I have to say that I’m now tiring of the seemingly relentless set of storms which have been battering the UK for a couple of months now. Thankfully we’ve survived intact, but many others around the country haven’t been so fortunate. My sympathies also go out to those Brides and Grooms whose winter wedding ceremonies might have been disrupted or even cancelled because of the conditions. So to bring a little bit of sunshine into a gloomy week, here’s my “Image of the week” …. “Beach Weddings Bournemouth – an intimate wedding ceremony“.

Julie and Gary got in touch with me early last Summer and asked whether I’d photograph their wedding ceremony with Beach Weddings Bournemouth. They’ve been together for many years – in fact, they were childhood sweethearts, so they really are “a couple”. They’d talked with family members about “the wedding” that would happen at some point in their lives, but had never actually made a decision on it. So, on the spur of the moment, they got in touch with Melanie at BWB and managed to find an open slot in September. They fell in love with my style of photography – relaxed, clean and informal and I was delighted when they asked me to be a part of their day.

They told me it would be an intimate ceremony – in fact, very intimate! It would be just the couple with their two young children – a very special ceremony. The week before the wedding Julie called me to ask if I’d mind being a witness! So Melanie and I had “double-duty” that day, although being a witness is hardly a duty, but a huge privilege.

The day itself was absolutely gorgeous – warm, sunny with clear blue skies and everyone was really happy as the family arrived on the beach. With just 5 adults (including the Registrar) and 2 children in the marquee and the waves lapping onto the beach it really was a very special and intimate ceremony. Now, I mentioned they’d discussed “the wedding” with family? Well, they’d talked about it, but Julie and Gary wanted to do the wedding their way, so didn’t tell anyone else about it! So this was, really, a very secret wedding. Their major worry was that their young daughter would inadvertently spill the beans to GrandMa beforehand, but everything went smoothly and their secret was safe! On the night of the wedding I edited some “sneak peeks” for Julie and emailed them across. When they got home they immediately went to the family and admitted what they’d done. The initial reaction from the family was slightly shocked, but everyone knew this was exactly how Julie and Gary are as a couple and realised this was what they wanted for their special day. When the family looked at the photos they saw what a great time they’d had and everyone had a laugh about “the secret”.

Anyway, this particular image is from the shoot after the ceremony when they walked down to the water’s edge and relaxed. I think it’s a great, happy family image from a wonderful day on the beach and it was an absolute delight being part of Julie and Gary’s day.
