Action from the British Beach Polo Championships 2011

Had a fantastic time yesterday at the 2011 British Beach Polo Championships, held on a gloriously sunny day at Sandbanks in Poole. This is the 4th time this annual event’s been held and over 2 days spectators were treated to some brilliant polo and the odd party here and there! 🙂 Played on a pitch approx 90m x 45m it’s close quarters combat, with just 3 players on each team instead of the usual 4 for field polo, but the action’s no less intense and the ponies have their work

    2010 Queen's Cup Final

A fantastic day at Guards yesterday, with action all the way! Dubai edged out Les Lions II to take the Harcourt Developments trophy, and Adolfo Cambiaso (probably the world’s best player) celebrated his record-breaking 7th Queen’s Cup victory! The event’s part of the social calendar, with a lack of formality but an abudance of glamour and is a perfect stepping stone to Royal Ascot which starts on the 15th. The subsidiary final for the Harcourt Developments cup was between Eni

Cowdray Polo – Argentine Ambassadors Cup

Cowdray Park is set in a beautiful location at Midhurst in Sussex, and was host to the annual battle for the Argentine Ambassadors Cup. This competition is keenly fought between Argentinian teams and the crowd is full of very vocal partisans cheering for their favourites! Sumaya ran out victors 10-9 over Loro Piana. 2010 Queen's Cup Polo

Another fantastic day’s action at Guards yesterday in the Queen’s Cup – two excellent games involving top teams. The first was between Talandracas and La Bamba De Areco, with La Bamba running out winners 12-11. There was a particularly nasty incident involving Jean-Francois Decaux – his horse stumbled and J-F went over it’s head landing heavily. The horse’s legs then got caught with another who tried to jump over. J-F was unable to continue play but is OK, and thankfully both

    2010 Queen's Cup polo

Spent a great day on Saturday up at Guards in blazing sunshine. A terrific match for the 2010 Royal Windsor Horse Show Cup, part of the Harcourt Developments Queen’s Cup 2010 series – high goal players on both teams with end to end action all the way – Piaget narrowly beating Emlor 11-10. The Queen’s Cup is held at a number of top grounds, including Guards, Cowdray and Coworth and is being held between 18May and 13 June. It’s contested by 14 teams this year and the final is h
