Another quiet week on the Blogging front I’m afraid, just trying to catch up with all of the editing from the recent weddings! That’s the part of being a wedding photographer that people don’t see. Everyone thinks we have a great time, going to all of these lovely weddings and taking a few snaps – if only it was that easy! 🙂 There’s days and days of editing the images before I’ll present them to my couples, but it’s quite enjoyable …. even if I do end feeling that my eyes are about to fall out of my head!
Anyway, onto this week’s submission for Image of the Week.
This is a shot from the Ami and Chris’ wedding at Merley House, near Wimborne in Dorset. It’s a Georgian Manor House and has some great rooms that make it a lovely a wedding venue. The room they use for ceremonies, The Old Library, has beautiful floor to ceiling windows that let in loads of natural light. Often, when shooting at wedding venues, I’ll struggle to find “good light” for the actual ceremony but that’s not an issue with Merley House.
The First Dance is one of those “standard” shots that photographers are expected to catch for their clients, and I love this particular image because it’s got the family and friends in the background. It’s not “just” a shot of the couple on an anonymous dance floor – you can see the room and their friends, and to my mind that makes it much more interesting.

Wedding photography at Merley House
I’m back at Merley House again tomorrow to shoot another wedding, and have worked at many of the leading wedding venues in Dorset and Hampshire. If you’re getting married anywhere in Dorset or Hampshire, please get in touch for a chat about how I might be able to help you on your special day.
